In contrast to the lighter gladius, the spatha was a heavier sword used by heavy infantry?when it wasn't used in the gladiatorial ring. This Roman Spatha is a faithful replica of the 3rd century weapon, a combination of elegance and dangerous beauty. Made of high-quality 18-gauge EN45 steel, this blade is finely tapered with majestic fittings. The handle is made of grooved bone carved with sweeping lines and three thick bands running through the middle, brass fittings punctuating either end. The pommel and square guard match the handle, forming an imperial harmony of ivories and golds. The scabbard is made of wood, wrapped in an astonishing red leather with brass fittings throughout, as well as four suspension points for a swordbelt. PRODUCT DETAILS:
